The sooner you document your losses the better.  As difficult and emotional as the process may be please do not delay.

We suggest first walking around your home and property taking a video tour BEFORE THE STORM HITS and then again afterwards.  These videos will be helpful for you and your attorney to maximize the value of your claim.  Next, make a list of your contents room by room BEFORE THE STORM HITS.  Finally, assign a value to each item.

Some helpful tools to value your items are:

  • Use the free UP Help Home Inventory App.
  • Create a wedding gift registry scanner to list and value items you had
  • Google search

YOUR PRE-STORM TO DO LIST:

1) monitor the storm’s path.

 2) begin stocking up on supplies now (water, flashlights, batteries, non perishable food, medicine, etc).

 3) document your belongings by taking a walkthrough video tour of your home or taking photographs. (This should be done at least once a year)

 4) take a photograph with your phone or email copy of your homeowners policy to yourself.

 5) have an evacuation plan set and known by your entire family, which includes your animals.

 6) keep some cash on hand.

 7) keep your main vehicle fueled.

 8) save my cell 727-644-8148. Call me if you have any questions before or after the storm makes landfall.

 9) BE SAFE!
